INTRODUCTION

The Department of surgical oncology at RIMS Started in June 2019. It is a state of art Cancer Centre in the city of Ranchi ,Jharkhand .The unique quality of the Centre is its dedication to serve the socio-economically disadvantaged people Who are unable to afford cancer treatment elsewhere due to various reasons.

Holistic surgical needs of all cancer patients are met with OPD, OT, ICU and Indoor services fully functional and catering to all patients from Jharkhand and nearby states. The department started with two member faculties-

Dr Ajit Kumar Kushwaha (HOD & Associate Professor)

(OPD timing- Monday and Thursday)

Dr Rohit Kumar Jha (Assistant Professor)

Tuesday and Saturday)

Major OTs - Monday Wednesday and Friday

Day care surgery & Minor procedure- Saturday

Ward/Indoor

Grand Rounds with detailed discussion about each patient
Preparation of summary receipts and regular discharge and referrals
Preparation of academic materials of rare and important cases for publication/presentation on academic platforms.

The cancer patients are given appropriate treatment facilities & proper oncological workup which include surgery along with pre-op,post-op care and optimisation.

The Surgical oncology Department is a boon for the state of Jharkhand Where earlier patients had to travel to other cities avail proper treatment But now with the introduction of the surgical oncology department the Cancer patients Can avail all the health Care services And Treatment In their very own RIMS .

FUTURE PLAN

To increase the number of beds and to commence advance techniques of cancer surgery(ROBOTIC SURGERY, HIPEC, RFA) As per international standards in RIMS it self under the guidance of our esteemed HOD Dr Rohit Kumar Jha And Unit in charge Dr Ajit Kumar Kushwaha. The department intends to fulfill the wishes of the people of Jharkhand and surrounding states for better cancer treatment and healthcare facilities.
