State Centre of Excellence for Public Health Nutrition is State of Art unit established at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi Jharkhand aligned with Department of Pediatrics, Department of Community Medicines, Department of Obs & Gynecology along with community driven approach supported by National Health Mission, Dept of Health and UNICEF Jharkhand. Centre is dedicated to strengthen nutrition interventions along with advancing nutrition outcomes across life cycle through evidence-based actions, capacity building and system strengthening.
State Centre of Excellence brings together NHM, Dept of Health, ICDS, Women and Child Development Dept, State Nutrition Mission, District Administrations, National Centre of Excellence and UNICEF Jharkhand to come up with practical innovations for scale up model and solutions for complex nutritional challenges. Our work provides technical assistance in strengthening capacity of State, district, block and frontline workers, strengthening knowledge and skills of frontline workers and evidence-based research contributing to sustainable improvements in nutrition and public health outcomes.
State Centre of Excellence is focusing on key areas of management of children with severe wasting through community-based management - SAAMAR/CMAM program, Innovations like implementation of Augmented Take Home Ration -Shishu Shakti – a scalable model of solution for improved recovery in children with severe acute malnutrition, Management of children with Early Growth Failure, linking community with facility based management, Referral mechanisms to higher facility through Up-referral unit and many more
